Comprehensive –

We aim at providing entire range of neurosurgical treatments across the boards so that patients’ do not need to shop around for expertise in any particular field. We are also able to provide outreach opinions in person for difficult cases or for patients who are not able to travel. Team Work –

Neurosurgeons are generally known to be individualistic and often prefer to work in isolation even in within hospital setting. With the Mumbai Neurosurgical Group, we firmly believe in a team approach wherein all cases are managed jointly by our multi-lingual Team of qualified Neurosurgeons and allied Neurosciences specialists in a multi-disciplinary setting. This includes decision-making, surgical treatment and post-operative care. We believe that in Neurosurgery a good team work is an absolute necessity for best possible outcomes. Even though a patient is treated within a team, all patients have a named consultant responsible for their management.

Experience/ subspecialty expertise –

Irrespective of the source of referral, we ensure that the surgeon with particular sub-specialty expertise in the field will treat the patient. This ensures that any surgery is performed by an expert in that particular field. The areas in Neurosurgery where we sub-specialise are covered elsewhere on this website.

Allied specialties –

We have access to experts in all allied specialties in our Institution and within the city. This includes – Neuro-intervention (Interventional Neuro-radiology), Neurology, Neuro-anaesthesia, Neuro-Otology, Spinal surgery, etc. We jointly manage cases with allied specialties as and when their input is needed. The patient gets the best possible treatment under one roof.

Transparency in pricing and packages –

The costs of treatment are transparent and stream-lined. Usually they are bundled in a package for the convenience of patients and their insurance companies. In complex situations where a treatment modality needed does not fit in a package, we are able to advise on an individual basis.

Treatment for the non-affording –

We endeavour to offer the same quality treatment at negligible cost to the less-privileged who cannot afford costs of medical care. This is however dealt with on a case-to-case basis. This includes provision of Neurosurgical treatment under the State-run schemes such as Rajeiv Gandhi Jeevandayi Yojana for financially under-privileged patients who cannot afford the cost of the treatment in independent sectors.

Follow-up –

Our follow-up arrangements after surgery are flexible to suit all patients’ needs including those residing in Mumbai as well as those travelling from distances and overseas. This includes follow-up on week-ends as well. In addition to Mumbai, we hope to be able to arrange routine follow up of surgically treated patients at three corners of the state of Maharashtra and in future also in the UK with prior arrangements.

E-Opinion –

We appreciate that patients’ often value input from more than one expert in the field before making an informed choice. To facilitate the same we provide an initial e-opinion for our patients where they can obtain at least two experts’ opinions from the comfort of their home at no cost. There are however limitations to e-opinions as the patients are not assessed clinically.

Quality control –

Our results are audited at regular intervals to ensure high standards of care are met as per international norms. Complications such as infections, if any, are routinely monitored and audited on regular basis. It is mandatory for all members of our team to keep their knowledge and skills up-to-date by regular engagement in CPD/CME (Continuous Professional Development / Continuous Medical Education) activities.

Accommodation and Visa assistance for patient’s family-

We are conscious that patients often come from far distances. We aim to minimize patients’ stay in the hospital. In almost all cases, surgery is scheduled on the day or the next day of admission. We are able to facilitate accommodation for patient’s family and friends within the hospital(s) premises or nearby areas, at reasonable costs. Our International liaison department routinely assists our International patients in securing Indian visas by providing supporting documentation, currency conversions and other help as needed.
