Pituitary Tumors

Are benign tumors arising from anterior pituitary gland.

They can be secretary or functional or Non-secretary or non-functional.

  1. Secretary can be
  2. Prolactinomas- prolactin releasing
  3. ACTH releasing tumor
  4. Thyroid stimulating hormonal releasing tumor
  5. Non-functional Tumors – Patients usually present with headache, blurring vision and occasionally even completely blind.

 

Treatment options-

  1. Medical treatment-

This option is for Secretary tumors.

 

  1. Surgical treatment-

For Larger and non-secretary tumors causing mass effect especially visual compromise.
